Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 88% Pakistani said that in their household men are responsible for dealing with the bank.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “In some households, depending on the country, different errands are carried out sometimes by men and sometimes by women. In your household, who is responsible for dealing with the bank?” Responding to this, 88% said men, 9% said women and 1% said other. However, 2% did not give a response.
The finding has important implications for the banking industry as it provides an insight about who the customer is. For policy makers, it is important to find out why there are so few women involved in dealing with the bank and if these hurdles can be resolved.
The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2677 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country.
