More actions ordered against dengue, malaria

Karachi: KMC Administrator Saqib Ahmed Soomro has said that every possible measure was being taken for prevention from dengue fever and malaria in the city. Citizens should adopt precautionary measures immediately so that they could prevent themselves from seasonal diseases. He said that disciplinary action would be taken against the officers and staff who were found in negligence and carelessness during spray campaign being carried out in the city.

He said this during a meeting with the officers of Municipal Services, Health & Medical Services and other relevant officers. Various matters including spray campaign, precautionary measures to curb Congo virus and disposal of offal especially on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha were reviewed.

He said that it was also one of the main responsibilities of KMC to take measures to prevent citizens from viral diseases along with development works in the city. He directed officers to carry on spray campaign effectively for removal of germs causing dengue fever and Congo virus.

He said that lower and suburban areas, drains and populations around them should be given special attention where more possibilities for breeding of mosquitoes, bees and other insects exist. Hand spray pumps should also be used in narrow streets along with spray vehicles in this connection and a comprehensive and mutual strategy should be adopted with the collaboration of five DMCs.

Administrator Karachi said that timely lifting of offal and proper cleanliness during Eid-ul-Azha would help establish healthy environment, therefore, citizens should fully cooperate with KMC staff so that cleanliness process could be carried out successfully.
