NA: Standing Committee of National Assembly on Religious Affairs meets

Islamabad: Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony has recommended to the government to take measures to make Hajj 2014 more affordable by reducing the estimated Hajj expenses. Its meeting was held in Islamabad on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Hafiz Abdul Kareem.

It suggested that the Ministry may reduce Hajj package from 3600 to 3500 Saudi Riyals and Muhafiz Fund from 500 to 400 Riyals to avoid extra financial burden on pilgrims.

The Committee also recommended that the Ministry may avoid depending only on PIA and consider other options for operational flights as well in order to provide timely boarding and lodging to pilgrims.

It also passed a resolution against killing of five girls after a wedding ceremony in Kohistan area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It asked the government to take stern action against criminals.
