No room for extremism, religious animosity in Pakistan: Jamal

Caretaker Minister for National Heritage and Culture Dr Jamal Shah says extremism and religious animosity will not be tolerated at any cost in Pakistan.

Talking to media in Jaranwala, he said our religion Islam doesn't permit any kind of discrimination and violence against any other religion and beliefs. He said that Islam teaches the lesson of peace, love and respect for others.

He lauded the efforts of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his team for the speedy rehabilitation work on damaged worship places and houses.

The Minister said it is our religious, national as well as moral obligation to protect rights of minorities in the country.

Meanwhile, talking to newsmen in Lahore on Sunday, Syed Jamal Shah said that his ministry will organise the creative programmes and concerts in various languages so that no segment of society feel neglected.

He said a website will be launched to introduce the youth with indigenous cultures and languages of the country.

Replying to a question, Jamal Shah said that the caretaker government has limited mandate but try to spread the culture of dialogue instead of monologue.

He said freedom of expression is the right of everyone but there should be responsible as he didn't consider incident of 9th May is freedom of expression.

The Minister stressed need to promote culture of dialogue to eliminate extremism in the society.
