Notice taken of rise in Atta rates

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Dahar here Wednesday took serious notice of overcharging of wheat flour sellers and ordered ensuring selling of Atta at government fixed rates.

In this regard the minister asked commissioner and deputy commissioner of Mirpurkhas district and food department officers there to ensure that Atta is being sold at the government rate of Rs40 per kilogram.

He said in a recent meeting with owners of flour mills it was agreed that the government would sell wheat to them at Rs34.6 per kg and they would sell Atta in open market at Rs39.6per kg. He said he not allow violation of this agreement. He said the government is issuing wheat to flour mills and Atta Chakkies as per their quota and they should provide the wheat flour to consumers at the government fixed prices; otherwise stern action would be taken against them.
