Pakistan can do well against SA: Zaheer Abbas

Karachi: Although South Africa leads the table in ICC Test Rankings and has also been performing well recent tournaments but fourth placed Pakistan has the firepower to stun the hosts in the upcoming series, believes former Test cricketer Zaheer Abbas.

“South Africa possess a lethal pace attack headed by Dale Steyn and strong batting line but I think Pakistan also possess the potentials required to shock the top Test side during the series,” Zaheer Abbas said.

“Pakistan could do well against South Africa if the batsmen play responsibly and put some runs on board. And yes Pakistan also possess some dangerous bowlers, who could play havoc against the South Africans,” he said.

Zaheer added that South Africa will have the advantage of playing at their home-ground in familiar condition. “But Pakistan has recently won the ODI series against India at its home-ground, which would certainly have given confidence to the players. It would help the team, when they would face South Africa.” The first Test between the two sides will begin from 1st February in Johannesburg.
