Pakistan-Nigeria relations stronger – Envoy (Daily Trust (Nigeria))

Pakistan will have stronger ties with Nigeria the Pakistan High Commissioner Agha Umer Farooq said during the country’s 69 independence anniversary in Abuja.

Farooq, who spoke to reporters at the event, said Pakistan-Nigeria relations date back to the 1970s, with greater concentration on education and medicine, stressing that the future is bright for both countries.

He said historically, if you look at the timeframe of 1970s and 1980s and 1990s, Pakistan and Nigeria had a very close cooperation in medical practice, teaching and even some lawyers were here. They left a very good imprint; today’s generation of Nigerians probably do remember those teachers of mathematics, physics, chemistry and other sciences.

The envoy said the countries also collaborate on irrigation system and agriculture, adding that Pakistan will continue to cooperate with Nigeria and the international community in tackling insecurity and promoting world peace and unity.
