PBSF to host Indian cueists next month

Karachi: Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) is organizing Indo-Pak Snooker Series next month in Karachi and has also received confirmation from the Indian cueists for participation in the event.

The event will be organized from 7th to 10th March in Karachi. According to PBSF, confirmations have been received from Indian cueists Kamal Chawla, Brijesh Damani, Lucky Vatnani and Rafath Habib.

“PBSF has already applied for the necessary NOC from the Pakistan Sports Board through the Sports Ministry (Inter Provincial Coordination) and Ministry of Interior to issue the Clearance for the above Indian team as the same is mandatory requirement of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi to issue the necessary Visa to the Indian team. The PBSF has requested the Pakistan Sports Board to expedite the NOC due to time constraint,” PBSF President Alamgir Sheikh said in a statement.

Executive Committee of PBSF has recently met and has taken several important decisions.

The Executive Committee also finalized the Pakistan snooker team which is selected as per the last national rankings for the National Snooker Championship to be held after the Snooker Series.

The Executive Committee approved the participation of three players and one stand by player, team manager and coach for participation in 14th Asian U21 Snooker Championship 2013 to be held in Indore, India. The players were selected as per their latest rankings in the recently concluded Jubilee Insurance 5th National Junior U-21 Snooker Championship

The players are Mohsin Amin, Amir Tariq, Muhammad Majid Ali and Hamza Akbar (Stand-By). Jawed H. Karim will be the team manager of the team while Muhammad Yousuf will be the coach of the team.

The Executive Committee reviewed the preparation of the 29th Asian Snooker Championship to be held in April 2013 in Karachi. Confirmation of participation has been received from India the Asian event.

The Executive Committee also reviewed the drawings and the PC-I received from the architect for the proposed Sindh Snooker Academy in Karachi and approved the same.

The Executive Committee decided to send Muhammad Asif (World Snooker Champion) for extensive coaching at WPBSA Asian Academy in Thailand in the month of June and July 2013.
