KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Thursday issued notice to home secretary and Inspector General of Police IGP on a petition filed by father of a 16yearold Hamza Ahmed, who was murdered in Defence on April 27, seeking fresh inquiry into murder case.
A division bench headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai also issued the notice to advocate general of Sindh and investigation officer of the case and adjourned the matter by August 16. Hamza Ahmed was killed allegedly by Amal Rehman, the private security guard of his schoolmate, Shoaib Naveed, on Khayaban-e-Seher, Defence. After the murder, Amal was declared an absconder while Shoaib was taken into custody. He was recently released on bail.
The petitioner, Talib Suhail, said that investigation officer has shown the accused Shoaib Naveed, Abid Hussain and Naveed Ahmed in column two in the charge sheet and tried to prove them innocent. However, there is sufficient material against them, which shows that they murdered my son brutally, he added.
He submitted that district public prosecutor, South Karachi during scrutiny of the interim charge sheet found so many illegalities and errors in charge sheet and directed IO to submit the fresh charge sheet according to law. But the IO with mala fide intention submitted the same charge sheet.
He said that CCTV footage shows that four people were involved in the killing of his son but such footage had not been brought on record by the police. He alleged that IO malafidely in collusion with the accused party did not send the weapon to the forensic lab for finger prints.
He stated that there were many eyewitnesses of incident including the guards of a nearby wedding lawn and a beauty parlour, but none of them were ready to appear before the court as police officials had threatened them of dire consequences.
He prayed to the court to direct IG Sindh to order fresh inquiry into case.
