PM approves induction of two officers belonging to Balochistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has approved the appointment by transfer of Mr. Haider Ali Shikoh BCS/BPS20 and Mr. Umar Khan Babar BCS/BPS20, officers of Government of Balochistan, presently working in BPS20 as Senior Joint Secretary/Additional Secretary BPS21 in Secretariat Group in the Federal Government on the recommendations of the Government of Balochistan.

It may be recalled that the President of Pakistan promulgated an ordinance on October 1st, 2012 for appointment by transfer of regular BPS21 Provincial Civil Service Officers in the Secretariat Group as senior Joint Secretary or Additional Secretary BPS21 in accordance with the specified criteria set out in the Ordinance.

In terms of the ordinance, two vacancies of Senior Joint Secretaries or Additional Secretaries in BPS21 in Secretariat Group were reserved for the Government of Balochistan.

The Government of Balochistan recommended two officers for the reserved seats since they could not be promoted by the Government of Balochistan for technical reasons, indicating that there is a likelihood of them being promoted to BPS21 very soon.

As induction of the officers of the Government of Balochistan is a onetime option meant for enhancement of representation of officers of Government of Balochistan at the federal level and the fact that the Ordinance is going to lapse on January 28, 2013, the Prime Minister has approved the appointments by transfer of the abovementioned officers in BPS21.
