Islamabad: The Cabinet of Supreme Court Bar Association headed by its President, Mr. Israrul Haq Mian and comprising other office bearers called on the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry here Thursday.
Welcoming the cabinet members the Chief Justice said, “I have a firm faith in maintaining cordial relations between the bench and the bar, cooperation and collaborative efforts by the bench and the bar is necessary to strengthen the system of constitutional dispensation of granting quick relief to the litigant parties who file suits and bring their complaints before the Court.
I have maintained this tradition of regular interaction with the office bearers of Supreme Court Bar Association as well as members of the Bar Councils and Bar Associations from all over the country, for the sake of strengthening the institution of judiciary and making it a vital organ of State, responsible for dispensation of justice to people of Pakistan”.
He further added that there is close nexus between Bench and Bar as both are the integral parts of the same system. It is duty of the Bench to dispense justice in accordance with law and the Constitution whereas it is the responsibility of the Bar to assist the Bench in dispensation of speedy justice to the public at large.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon both of them to address the expectation and legal needs of the litigant public by deciding their cases expeditiously. For the cause of administration of justice, the role of Bar is very crucial, which without the cooperation of the Bar, cannot be fulfilled effectively.
Strong Bar is sine qua non for a strong and independent Judiciary. It was desired that in our country independent Judiciary must work and dispense justice in accordance with law and the Constitution.
The meeting was a working session between the Bench and the Bar to discuss the issues faced in the process of administration of justice; particularly the procedure followed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan with a view to remove hiccups in the process of dispensation of justice to the litigant public.
The purpose was to expedite the judicial process so that cases/disputes are quickly decided, grievances redressed and relief granted to the parties concerned. The Members of the Supreme Court Bar Association thanked the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan for providing an opportunity to discuss their problems in a face to face manner. In the meeting issues were discussed as regards the case management, adjustment of cause lists and fixation of cases.
