KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Wednesday dismissed the petition of a Pakistan Peoples Party’s MPA who sought transfer of election appeal against him from Sukkur election tribunal to another tribunal.
PPP’s Syed Sarfaraz Hussain Shah submitted that he contested election for provincial assembly seat PS21 in Naushehro Feroze and was declared returned candidate. He said that his rival candidate, who lost seat to him, levelled allegations against him of rigging elections and challenged his election results in Sukkur election tribunal.
The petitioner submitted through his counsel that he had not trust in the head of the Sukkur tribunal, retired district and sessions judge Zaheeruddin Leghari, for being a follower of Pir Pagara, who is the chief of the PML-Functional. He apprehended that he could not get a fair decision from the tribunal.
He prayed to the court to order election commission of Pakistan to transfer plea against from Sukkur tribunal to some other tribunal.
