KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Monday restrained secretary Zakat and Ushr department and provincial chairman Zakat and Ushr from taking any illegal action against chairman of District Zakat and Ushr Committee Tharparkar.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi also issued notice to respondents’ secretary Zakat and Ushr department and provincial chairman Zakat and Ushr.
The petitioner, chairman of District Zakat and Ushr committee Tharparkar, Saleem Sangrasi submitted that he was appointed as chairman of the committee on basis of performance and honesty.
He said that some political elements had started interfering into the matters of disbursement of Zakat after new political dispensation has come into power.
The petitioner said that his tenure as chairman will expire in February 2014, but concerned minister wants to remove him due to his affiliation with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and appoint a person who belonged to their political party.
He prayed to the court to restrain the secretary Zakat and Ushr department from taking any adverse action against him.
The court directed respondents to strictly act according to law.
