Sitting EC is acceptable to all stakeholders, says Fazlur Rehman

Islamabad: Chief of Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam‚ (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that an independent Election Commission is vital for transparent, free and fair elections and the sitting Election Commission is acceptable to all stakeholders. He said that there is no hurdle in the way of general election which will be held well in time.

He stated this while talking to media persons here on Wednesday. He said that general elections will disappoint those elements who want to weak national institutions. Responding a question he said that stage is set for general elections no one should talk about postponement.

He criticized long march of Tahir ul Qadri and said if the country has to run on the decisions of a single party‚ other political parties should go home. Earlier‚ Fazlur Rehman held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner and discussed issues regarding general elections.
