Sports: Cricket: Pakistani players sold big in BPL auction

Karachi: Pakistani players received lucrative contracts for playing in upcoming Bangladesh Premier League BPL with allrounder Shahid Afridi and opener Imran Nazir leading the table for Pakistan.

Shahid Afridi and Imran Nazir were included in the top category, which enabled the duo to get some of the highest paid contracts. Imran Nazir received a $280,000 contract from the Chittagong Kings while Shahid Afridi received a $275,000 contract from the Dhaka Gladiators.

Former Pakistani allrounder Azhar Mehmood, who has shown some remarkable performances in county cricket in England, was given a $206,000 contract and will represent the Barisal Burners who also offered a $101,500 contract to Saeed Ajmal.

Former skipper Shoaib Malik was given a $85,000 contract from the Khulna Royal Bengals.

But Bangladeshi star allrounder Shakib ul Hasan received the highest contract of $365,000 to play for the Dhaka Gladiators. The Sylhet Royals selected Bangladeshi Captain Mushfiqur Rahim by offering him a $280,000 contract.
