KARACHI: KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that strategy had been devised for making Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal operational, which was being constructed with cost of Rs313 million and in this connection, all problems of Oil Tankers Association would be resolved and the project would be completed with mutual cooperation and consultation of all stakeholders.
He said this while addressing a meeting held on Zulfiqarabad Oil Terminal Project. On this occasion Project Coordinator Faisal Saud, Director General Technical Services Niaz Soomro, Sr Director Transport & Communication Muhammad Athar, Project Director of Zulfiqarabad Oil Terminal Ansar Zaidi, President of Pakistan Oil Tankers Association Meer Muhammad Yousuf Shahwani, General Secretary Shafique Kakar, Muhammad Khan Tareen, Haji Hazrat Hali Afridi, Laiq Zada and Deputy General Manager Logistic of Pakistan State Oil Masroor Qasim were present.
Various issues for early completion of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal Project were discussed during meeting.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion said that various works of the project including water, mosque, and provision of washrooms, overhead tank, boundary walls and parking area have been completed whereas 50 acre more land was being added so that 1200 acre land allocated for parking terminal should be in use.
He asked Pakistan State Oil for cooperation for early completion of this project and meeting of all stakeholders will be called on the location of Oil Tankers Terminal on Monday in which all matters for completion of the project will be reviewed.
Administrator Karachi said that parking of oil tankers on Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal will reduce environmental pollution and resolve the problems caused by parking of a large number of oil tankers near Shireen Jinnah Colony in this connection PSO and different oil companies have been asked to perform all responsibilities along with cost sharing so that this important project could complete soon and an old problem of city should resolve.
He said that availability of water in underground tank of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal has been ensured, 95 percent work of overhead tank has been completed, construction of 32 toilets and bathrooms has been completed and sheds have been constructed for 9660 persons.
Besides police check post on inside and outside routes, waiting area consisting of two rooms for rangers and police, toilet and bathroom have been constructed whereas construction works of three tyre shops, 1500 feet long boundary walls, parking area and mosque has been completed by KMC and parking of oil tankers will start as remaining works complete.
He said that 2375 oil tankers would be parked on Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal at a time and infrastructure for above 10,000 people was available. This was an old demand of the city which was being fulfilled. Heavy traffic on city roads will reduce after the completion of this project and traffic flow will improve as well.
He said hindrances in remaining works had been removed and directives were issued for raising speed of construction works. He said this was a combined project which was being completed with the collaboration of Government of Pakistan, Government of Sindh, KMC and Oil Companies.
He said oil tankers of Shireen Jinnah Colony and other areas would be shifted here after completion of remaining part of works from companies and safety measures would also be taken for providing oil tankers and their owners with full proof security.
