Taxi drivers rise fares as electioneering picks steam

Talhar, Sind: As the electioneering process has picked up steam taxi drivers and owners of car hire services have raised considerably there fares.

Due to frequent processions, rallies and meetings the demand of taxies and hired vehicles is on steep rise in almost all constituencies and taxi drivers have also hiked their fares to reap profits. Now fare of a private taxi for one full day is up to Rs3000. Though, the rich politicians and landlords are easily affording these fares; however, general public is facing difficulties.

Citizens say in case of emergencies they have to hire private taxis, but now their fares have gone beyond their reach. They said taxi drivers are demanding a fare of Rs4000 for a trip from Talhar to Hyderabad.
