Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that the US must immediately withdraw its troops from the region and also avoid interfering in Pakistan in order to end terrorism in the country.
Talking to different delegations at Mansoora on Sunday, he said that the US herself was holding talks with the Taliban on terrorism but it was refraining Islamabad from any contact or dialogue with the Taliban.
Hasan blamed that the terrorist activities in Pakistan were being caused by the US and India, and not the Taliban or the AlQaeda. However, the blame was being put on the Taliban and the AlQaeda to justify the drone attacks. As a matter of fact, he said, Washington wanted to punish this country for its humiliating defeat in Afghanistan. However, he said, all US efforts to blackmail Islamabad in the name of AlQaeda had failed.
He said it was an admitted fact that the US and Indian agencies were distributing arms and money among separatists in Balochistan, and the security agencies had solid evidence of that. Therefore, US Secretary of State John Kerry’s statement that Alzawahiri and his men were involved in terrorism in Pakistan, was an attempt to hide the facts, he said.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that unfortunately, the Pakistani rulers had reduced the country into a dependent state of the US. The US was making a mockery of our independence and sovereignty but the rulers devoid of national honour, did not have the courage to take notice of John Kerry’s ridiculous statements.
He said that the US thrust a war on Afghanistan on the pretext of the Taliban and the AlQaeda, and also dragged Pakistan into the so-called war on terror. Pakistan had lost more than 48000 lives in this war besides suffering huge financial losses to the tune of 100 billion dollars. He said that despite such heavy sacrifice, Washington did not trust this country and had always blamed Pakistan for its failure.
Hasan criticized John Kerry’s statement that drone attacks would continue to target Taliban and Al-Qaida men. He said the US agencies themselves had reported that 98 per cent of those being killed in drone attacks were innocent people including women and children.
He said the new rulers would now have to explain their position to the people as they had secured votes on the slogans of stopping drone attacks, ensuring the independence and solidarity of the country and also of Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s release.
The JI Ameer said that every state was responsible for its internal affairs and for the establishment of the supremacy of the constitution and the law within its territory. The US was trampling upon the international laws and interfering into other states on the excuse of terrorism, he said.
