Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Thar coal project is a very important project of energy sector, having capacity to cater the whole electricity needs of Pakistan itself.
He was talking to the newly appointed Consul General of Peoples Republic of China in Karachi, Ma Yaou, who called on him at the CM House Monday.
Shah said a good quality coal is available in Thar which could be used in power generation. He said different international companies on working on Thar coal including the Chinese companies and there is a capacity for more investment. He said the relation between Pakistan and China are old, which further augmented during the government of the then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He said recently Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has visited China and many MoUs have already been signed during this visit. He said Sindh province is rich in resources to better utilize them the Chinese companies are encouraged to invest here.
Consul General Ma Yaou congratulated Syed Qaim Ali Shah on taking charge as the chief minister of Sindh. He hoped that under his leadership the Pak-China relations would be further strengthened. He said he would try his best to increase Chinese investment in Sindh province.
On the occasion, traditional gifts of Ajrak and Sindhi Topis were presented to the guests.
