Traders support ‘people march’

KARACHI: All Pakistan Organisation of Small Traders and Cottage Industry Karachi President Mehmood Hamid, Vice Presidents Usman Sharif, Liaquat Qazi and Abdul Majid have supported the ‘people’s march’ by political and religious parties against target killing, terrorism and non-implementation of Supreme Court verdicts in Karachi and termed it voice of people.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the business community leaders said that traders were the worst victims of lawlessness and terrorism as they were even killed despite paying extortion.

They said that chits demanding lacs of rupees extortion were being sent to traders of Karachi which generates 67 percent of country’s revenue and on non-acceptance of such extortions, hand grenades were being thrown at their shops.

The leaders said that so far 25 to 30 traders had been killed in such attacks, which was the matter of great concern. He said that the orders of Supreme Court issued for restoring peace and correcting voter lists were also not being implemented.

The business leaders asked traders community to take part in the march with full strength.
