At least 20 people were killed and over 50 others wounded in twin blasts targeting a sports club in Afghanistan's capital city Kabul on Wednesday, officials said.
Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai confirmed the explosions saying that it targeted a wrestling club in the limits of the sixth police district in Qala-e-Nazer area, killing at least 20 people and wounding 50 others.
The first blast was caused by a suicide bomber and the second blast targeted first responders at the scene an hour later. Security forces have cordoned off the area after the blast.
Ministry of Public Health spokesman Waheed Majroh also confirmed the casualty toll saying that wounded people were being evacuated to different hospitals. The injured also included security forces and journalists who were gathered at the scene after the first blast.
Earlier last month, at least 34 people were killed in a suicide attack in front of an education center in Dasht-e-Barchi area; west of Kabul.
