Karachi: German Consul General in Karachi Dr Tillo Klinner on Tuesday said Urdu translation of ‘Serving the Unserved’ a biography of Dr. Ruth Pfau is great achievement and now people can read social services of Dr Ruth Pfau for humanity in Pakistan.
He expressed these views while addressing the book launching ceremony “Serving the Unserved – A Biography of Dr. Ruth Pfau” into Urdu language “Khidmat Ho Maqsad-e-Hayat Mera”, translated by Dr Zia Mutahir held at Greenwich University here.
The book launching ceremony was jointly organized by Greenwich University Karachi and Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre.
A large number of faculty members, students and civil society members were also present. Dr Ruth Pfau, founder of Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre in Pakistan also attended the ceremony.
Dr Tillo Klinner said the book put light on social services of Dr Ruth Pfau, who has served the masses of Pakistan with sincerity.
Vice Chancellor Greenwich University Seema Mughal said services of Dr Ruth Pfau will always be remembered and this book is great gift for youngsters. She applauded the services of Dr Ruth Pfau for humanity.
She said Dr Ruth Pfau shone the name of Pakistan in world as a country where leprosy disease has been controlled; adding Pakistan achieved this goal through hectic efforts of Dr Ruth Pfau which was declared in 1996 by World Health Organization WHO.
Renowned drama writer & intellectual Fatima Surayya Bajia said by writing the book ‘Serving the Unserved’ Dr Ruth Pfau has made immortal her name in history. She emphasized the students to take active part in social service activities following the footsteps of Dr Ruth Pfau as she has devoted 50 years of her life for fighting leprosy in Pakistan.
Dr Zia Mutahir Zia highlighted different aspects of life of Dr Ruth Pfau and her services.
