Former Pakistan pacer and Sultan of Swing, Wasim Akram, expressed anger and criticized the Pakistan team after a heartbreaking defeat against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup in Chennai.
While speaking on a local sports show, Akram angrily stated that our players lack fitness and need to undergo fitness tests.
Wasim Akram said, “It was embarrassing today. 283 was a good total, and Afghanistan comfortably chased it with a loss of 2 wickets. We have been shouting for three weeks that the fitness test has not been conducted for two years.”
He added, “Professionally, you guys have been getting paid, playing for your country, and there has to be certain criteria. Fielding is all about fitness, and that’s what we are lacking.”
It should be noted that this is Pakistan’s third consecutive defeat in this mega event, including this upset loss to Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, the Green Shirts are currently in 5th place on the World Cup points table with 4 points, and their next World Cup game is scheduled to take place against South Africa on 27th October.
