Peshawar: The women of the KPK region need enabling environment for entrepreneurship development in the province through policy intervention, said Ms.Nuzhat Rauf, President of the Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Peshawar (WCCIP) while speaking to newly
elected parliamentarian from Provincial Assembly of the KPK.
She said that WCCIP has initiated policy discussions with the support of Centre for International
Enterprise (CIPE) on “Entrepreneurship Development Policy for the Women of KPK” to improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region to increase the start-up opportunities for the women entrepreneurs. She was of the view that new government should give this initiative a priority which in turn will improve the livelihood and help create job opportunities in micro, small and medium enterprises.
While speaking at the occasion, Ms.Shamama Arbab, Vice President of WCCIP highlighted that
there is a growing number of university qualified female students with tremendous potential for starting their businesses provided some policy improvement are implemented in province. She gave an example of creating IT City, increasing microfinance limit, introducing entrepreneurship curriculum at school level as few possible areas to look at.
Mrs.Fitrat Ilyas Bilour leader of the group said that WCCIP was formed to promote women entrepreneurship culture to provide opportunities to the aspiring women entrepreneurs. She said women of this region have great potential and abilities which need to be exploited by providing them enabling environment.
Ms.Miraj Humayun Khan of Qaumi Watan Party expressing her view said that the parliamentarian are very encouraged to know the initiative of WCCIP and assured full support of the party. She said there are many areas which provide tremendous opportunities to women other than tradition give focus to only traditional businesses.
Ms.Dina Naz, MPA PTI,President Women Wing PTI South Region assured that in the Parliament voice of the women shall be raised and said that their party is very much interest in
women development. She said that WCCIP should identify barriers and the areas where WCCIP requires support to promote entrepreneurship in the region, whereas, parliamentarians will help in implementing various initiative that aim toward the promotion of entrepreneurship culture.
Mr.Yasin Khalil, MPA PTI Said that businessmen have a number of problems that should be looked into and said that attention shall be given on education and skill development. He highly
appreciated the initiative of WCCIP and said next meeting shall be arranged with the Chief Minister to appraise him the program of WCCIP. He said that separate industrial estate for Women can also be established.
